Jadavpur University Photographic Club is not just another of the student run hobby clubs that throng multitudes of colleges and universities of India and on a larger scale, the world. Established in 1967 by a few enthusiastic, photography-minded students of the university, JUPC is still going strong and reaching new heights. The club is run by a large number of students from all the faculties who serve as active members during their tenure as students in the university.

Every year July marks the beginning of a new session that sees a new bunch of students join the club. The session commences with an extensive training session in which the existing members introduce the new students to the basics of photography through a number of theory and practical classes. They are provided with cameras and films by the club during this period and are also taught the techniques of developing and printing and digital editing.
JUPC also organizes workshops to enable the young photographers to interact with and consult eminent photographers like Raghu Rai, Swapan Nayek, Tushar Kanti Dutta, David Trattles, who the club has been privileged to have welcomed.
